this is nicole and she's turning 5 in a few months. and the piece of paper proudly pinned to her bedroom door carries the names of everyone dear to her. and according to nicole, we love to play *heart*

but having taken a closer look at it, i was saddened that i do not feature in nicole's world. everyone's in it. jasmin, her 舅母, jeffrey, her 舅舅, cynthia, her mummy, derek, her daddy, jayden, her brother, poh poh, her 婆婆. by golly, even her plush toy, pig bao bao, had its name on it. so feeling slightly indignant, i asked her abt it. and you nv would have guessed. her response threw me off completely.

nicole pointed to the extra 2 "E"s on her name and say "got lah, its here! Yi Yi!"

sigh. im thinking someone needs to send her kid for some spelling lessons soon.

short update. been busy watching my 管家仔. i tell you, the show's hugely addictive. i find myself tearing away from the tv every nite and dragging myself off the bed in the morning. and rite now, im sick due to lack of slp. yes, the evilness of the show but im loving it. few more episodes to go and i shall savour every last min of it. anyway song of the day. cun get enuff of it, it's on repeat single track on my player for the past few weeks.

Train Man

so its october already. seriously, i hafnt a clue on wat i've been doing for the past mth. work's been kind of a drag lately and i wonder how long i can stay on in my current position. there's no challenge, no excitement, no satisfaction, and obviously no pay increment. just the same thing over and over again. even my gay boss' jokes arent that funny anymore. the only slight pleasure i get is in the morning when im on my way to work, sth reminiscent of the Train Man. its all very silly but wat do u noe, me aint the only one being silly. *nudges winnie* anyway, will bitch more abt work another time. and also on my first (and last) walkathon, the trials and tribulations of knitting and my stupid aching jaw. but slp for now.

i've finally decided to be kind and stop scaring u visitors by updating this god forsaken space. i noe, its the same fucking puppets everytime u enter this page.

and speaking of tt, congrats to my dear fren on getting herself a baby! though its not under the ideal circumstances that this was announced, i am still very happy for u. dun lose slp over tt issue lah, we'll meet up soon ok? but its weird how ur name pops up when i come across books at work, particularly titles tt run along the line of controlling ur emotions during pregnancy.... ok bad joke.

emotions also ran wild at work for me the other day. i nv really knew how it would be to jus lose it without considering the consequences. now i noe, though nothing really bad has happened right in my face yet. and to think of it, work's not really a popularity contest where u haf to win over everyone to ur side. no, i do not have a problem with tt, though i shd haf realised it sooner.

and i've come to realise tt people ard me are slowly, but surely changing. and i mean apart from some who seemed to have expanded and grew more distant. take tis fren who i've not spoken to for quite awhile and prob the last person on earth i tot would tok to me abt marriage. and there the other nite, he's preaching to me abt the importance and responsibility we have to marry and procreate. and i tot soccer and gaming were the most impt things in his life.

funny it seems im on a roll here, picking up relationships where i've left them. just hope i'll start where i'd stopped.

Apples and Trees

scary looking couple i noe. but this was the puppet show i went to last weekend with the family at act3 international. free tickets courtesy of my sis in-law. the plot revolves around a loving old couple, an alcoholic drag queen, a zombie and an apple tree. but the fingerwork of the performers were smooth and the music + lighting was perfect. i love the music. have been googling and asking at music stores but cun seem to find any. it's a uk band, scary looking trio producing great music, if falsetto's ur cup of tea.

Dinner for Tonight

not to sound like an ungrateful daughter but this is not the usual for dinner, Mum.

wat can i say, my mum's got some sense of humour. though the only thing missing next to the plate is the can opener.

Visiting the Garden

while it could be insufferably boring for some, visiting the singapore botanic gardens for the very first time was quite an experience for me. throwing myself into the arms of mother nature after a full week of crap at work and repressed anger was quite liberating. all the greens and flora, how could it not be?

more exaggerated details at xuefang's blog. =p but really, the day was productive. having the company of a great fren, soaking up the sun (and rain), meeting new ppl (like somewhere there's a father with his hot lawyer son working in spore), shopping in town, and completing a whole season 2 of sex and the city. all in a day.

Nation's 43rd Bday

while wat may seemed like the whole of singapore was at the marina, the group of us found ourselves at viv's love nest (yet again) - but for the same purpose of celebrating the nation's 43rd bday. yes, happy bday singapore, can we start with wii already? ok so they (or shd i say we) put up a good show for the parade, but really, its just the same thing over and over again so much so that jeral could already tell us wat's happening next. and i mean besides the fact tt its way overshadowed by the olympics opening? wii's more interesting indeed. but somehow, someway, the siao-on host still got us to sing along to the national anthem, waving the flags and reciting the pledge - much to winnie's astonishment. well, im kinda thinking its the water.

//was supposed to start on my performance review, which is coming up this thurs. and here i am blogging online and watching sex and the city (ironically loaned by the manager). certainly hope i dun start on season 2 tmr.

Tickle Nibbles

finally got into the mood to clean my room, and you wun believe how much junk i've kept over the years. art sketch books, folios and drawings from sec sch. im quite sentimental abt those actually. imagine all the hard work i'd put into it, couldnt quite bear to trash it lah. but wat surprised me was i still kept my english compositions! omg i noe. was myself abit embarrassed by the crap stories i'd written in the past. hah. but greeting cards and letters are the hardest to part. i've kept almost everything from pri sch to poly. good thing im not that popular in sch, imagine i'll have a mountain of it. anyway i think i'll keep it for the moment, you noe, read thru everything, get a good laugh and then trash it.

speaking of a good laugh, winnie and i went to try the fish spa thingy tt's quite the hype now. we were very tickled (and stressed out) by the fishies and like winnie said, the shop shd be named tickles instead of nibbles. in my opinion, $18 for 15 mins isnt really worth it. by the time i'd gotten used to the fishes' nibblings and beginning to relax, time was up. and apart from the tickling, the sight of a sch of fish ard my legs was quite enough to freak me out. pics taken with the hp so not very clear.

Overdue

havnt been diligent in keeping this blog updated i noe. but at least i got the photos up. like finally. weekdays are filled by work and once i get home i just wanna eat and slp. have a feeling the working hours is getting longer and longer, or maybe im just not kept busy enough at work. (again?) and the past few weekends are spent going out with the gang. bday celebrations, shopping, ice-skating, the zoo and science centre. pics and details at Vivien's blog.

'Twas A Feeling I Had

something happened today that shook me up from my denial that im not getting any younger. ok, i noe its abit contradictory cos i keep saying im old and everything BUT i've always only referred to my age. wat i fail to realise is that the body and health deteriorate in the process. pretty obvious to everyone else but me. its like im so used to associating my apparent youth (ppl keep telling me i look 18) to my health. cos ive never done much to keep my body fit and healthy. i seldom give much tot to wat i consume, the amt of calorie and fat intake and wat not. and i hardly exercise, apart from walking. and all that could possibly explain wat happened.

i was commuting to work on an overcrowded train as per usual. had to stand since all seats were taken. upon entering the train, i buried my nose in my book. yes, dean koontz again. everything was as per normal before i began to feel some slight discomfort at ang mo kio as more ppl squeezed themselves into the train. so i kept my book and tried to get more air. but the discomfort persisted and breathlessness ensued. when the train reached novena, my vision started to blacken at the perimeters and some invisible hand seemed to turn down the volume on my music player. i started to panick, but all i could do was tightened my grip on the handle to avoid the embarrassment of collapsing. "will get off after novena to get air" was wat i told myself. but novena never came. i did not see, was unable to see the cabin doors opening. all i heard was the intercom announcing the next stop. newton. orchard. somerset. as i began to tell myself im gonna die, my vision brightened abruptly and i could once again make out wat joss stone was singing. i also became aware that most commuters had alighted and i was still standing, gripping onto the handle in cold sweat but very much alive, thank god.

i tell u, that was the longest ride. ever. and a traumatising one too. the repercussion is apparent as i kinda get that breathless feeling whenever the train approaches novena. its like i dunno when it will happen again and its damn scary. i think i seriously need to go for a health checkup soon and watch my diet or do something. and if its not my health, then it could be due to the start of a brand new week. my, tok abt monday blues.

woah, had it been 2 weeks since i've started my new job? cos time seems to be crawling for me. i really wonder why. anyway, i've actually wanted to post sth neither-here-nor-there. but well, since i've got connection, i may as well do a proper one. so. sequential updates on the a-mui concert, kc's bday, bro's rom and my new job so far.

A-Mui Live Concert

well, it wasnt as electrifying as jacky cheung's world tour (obviously) or as meaningful as shooting stars. but i've got to say tt alice lau is really good. great voice, outstanding potrayal. it would have been better if she had sang more of anita mui's songs.

Kacee's 25th Bday

hehe, the 3rd in our group to enter mid 20s status or wat i may call the aging-denial stage. we met at some restaurant for the usual meal-cake-photo celebration. nothing elaborate but i hope she liked the universal voucher we got for her! =D

Brother's ROM

i never tot i'll be saying this, but im beginning to get worried abt my singularity. imagine being the only target to be bombarded with tt dreadful question at new year gatherings. awful. anyway. the proceedings at the ROM didnt go as planned due to weather conditions. it rained. lots of last min changes were made and guests were abit lost on wats happening next. but the couple got married nonetheless. the exchange of wedding vows was particularly touching. i dunno if this happens alot, but the couple actually read off from memory each and every word on the vow. for me, tt's committment.

New Job

i could go on and on abt it but erratic would be one word to sum it up. i dun quite noe when i'll need to work weekends, when i'll be asked to go for a look-see, when staff would be away, and when i'll need to move from one computer to another. but i pretty much enjoy the working hours, shopping during lunchtime, the lax working environment and the freedom of flipping thru books when i get sick of the computer.

oh, update on the japan trip will have to be done much later (if at all) cos there's too many photos to be uploaded and i rather not post sth skimpy like the 1-para malacca trip. (hor, kc?) so i'll update again. soon.

Away

day 2 of being jobless, and im loving it. slacking is actually my fav past time for those who know me. =p slping in late, shopping and having tea in the neighbourhood mall, and packing for the trip. yes, im leaving for japan tonight! and oso, this space will be left un-updated indefinitely. reason being i very seldom go online at home due to slow connection, and tt i foresee my new job wun offer me the luxury of blog surfing as did np. so my frens, thank you for visiting this blog and i promise i'll update whenever i can. =)

New Beginnings

tomorrow shall mark the close of a chapter in my life. a long overdue move in my opinion, but not entirely unintended. you pick up where you fall, dust yourself and move on. burying your head in the ground to escape reality wouldnt alter facts.


too much happened in this place, so much so that every corner serves as a reminder of old wounds. but it is also here that i've finally recounciled. and stepping out from this shadow is wat's important.

Hairy Business

i think im hooked. on my hair. more precisely, cutting my hair. i went for another cut just today at kc's regular hairdresser. tt makes it 3 cuts in less than 2 months. (i used to cut my hair less than 5 times a year) but oh, kc's hairdresser is really good. i love the cut she gave me. not much styling and blowing, easy to manage. i think i've finally found a place tt i can go back to at a regular basis. you have no idea how much courage it takes to entrust your hair to new hairdressers cos either they screw up big time or deliver a fair job. so a shoutout to kc, thanks for recommending! but after a week now, its grown a teeny bit. so im thinking i'll need a trim soon. like before bro's rom on the 27th. speaking of the rom. i never knew im good at decorating and floral arrangement. cos he happily assigned me the job of decorating the entire venue, assuming i'm good enough for the job. -_-ll so after much protest and him coming to his senses, i'll only help to prettify the stairway and cupcake tier. ok, i sense your worry. but for the record, i dun haf a sweet tooth.

Leo & Viv's Wedding Day

i've always knew weddings are a tiring affair, all the planning, the coordination and the physical and emotional stress. but wat i didnt noe is tt it applies not only to the couple and their immediate family, but extends to close frens aka zee mui aka helpers. ya i noe, tt's why its called helpers. -_-ll but i remembered it wasnt this tiring when sis got married. anyway it was quite an exhausting experience, didnt get enough slp due to last min preparations (to sabo the groom) the nite before at the bride's house, having to wake up early the following day, having to follow where the bride goes and helping her change in/out of her gowns.. (yes, 什么都给我看完了*hiakhiak*) and not forgetting the shock i got seeing my fren transform into wat they term a bridezilla. very apt in this case. i wonder if they have a term for the suffering groom who has to placate the bride.. anyhow, shall blog more when pics come in (below pic from wing's blog). cun wait to see them =)

Shocks!

practically jumped out of my skin when i stepped out from the toilet at home early this morning. in my slpy stupor, my senses reacted rather slowly to a presence standing near the washing machine, staring intently at me. when i finally realised, my reaction was extreme, though it was just my mum. nothing to be afraid of i noe cos she looked neither dishevelled or ghastly. but in my defense, she never wakes this early, no one does except for me. so under those circumstances, i had every right to scream and jump back in shock. and for that, mum was kind enough to compensate me with an egg sandwich to bring to work. =D

totally burst my budget for this 2 months. and the worst part is, i'll be out of a job soon. honestly, i dun often spend unnecessarily, but when i do, its pretty crazy. let's list a few.

• grad portrait (at least $200) = its like obligatory? though i can definitely do without it
• grad dinner treat ($70) = err, not necc oso must say necc rite? everyone made an effort to attend lor =p
• malacca trip ($100) = quite an experience, it was like the amazing race. will blog abt it when i get pics
• new specs ($50) = totally unnecc, i have like 7 pairs now.. omg..
• contacts ($70) = cos its slightly cheaper to buy in 3?
• hair cut ($26+$32) = y twice i rather not tok abt it
• anita mui concert ($50) = i need some form of entertainment since i've decided to quit gg to the movies. and her songs are nice and creepy
• lunch treat ($50) = quite necc, cos cun always make uncle pay for mum and me
• holiday trip ($2200 + $600) = this is like the worst, i dun even noe wat got into me to actually sign up for the tour! gd thing is we can pay by instalments
  

now that i've listed it out, it looks abit worrying rite? i noe, i should be very very worried. so from today on, i shall cut down on dinner dates and stick to shopping at chong pang market. or live in complete seclusion altogether.

Graduated!

2 years spent toiling for this day where i get a piece of paper certifying my status as graduand of University of London. 2 whole years, but the experience isnt as gratifying as it should. anyway, some pics taken on my graduation.
