ok, this is going to be like so nonsensical. but the world does operate in strange ways which baffles me.

#1 - Fanaticism

wat's the word to describe someone who's overly obsessed with their religion?

that was the qns which made me lose slp last nite. (and its just a random qns -_-) the word was just there at the back of my mind! i could even picture the expression of these ppl, but i just, just couldnt conjure the word from my vocab bank. extremist? puritan? grrr!! no!!

and just as i was abt to let it go, the word popped out in my mind. FANATICS! immediately jumped out of bed to check the dictionary and yes! i was rite! mwahahaha!

// isnt it a wonder how things would just refuse to come to you when u're determined to find it, and then finds its way to you when you're abt to give up?

#2 - E.T vs chang 'e

it's crazy how i could randomly come up with these 2 entities when we're toking abt finding tt someone in our lives. "you go find your chang 'e and i'll go find my E.T hor."

and it tickled me to no end when you actually pondered over the possibility of being my E.T. "come on lah, E.T and chang 'e are like living on different planets? there's no connection between the 2!"

and it's insanely coincidental when you pointed out that your initials are exactly E and T. "nooo wayyyy..."

afterthought : i think im coped up at home for too long and studying is making me a bit mad.

sorry for the serious lack of updates, too busy "making out" with my notes and books, it's kind of like a love-hate situation now. sighzz. anyway, since its labour day, i shall take a break to update this long forsaken blog. its been so long i almost forgot my log-in id and password!

Post Prelims

i managed to survive my last paper - international & comparative perspectives, which was THE killer for me.

surprisingly, for a paper which i started prep only 2 days before, i could cough up enough crap to make it 9 pgs. and i didnt even haf time to finish my last point! but as i've said, x pgs of words doesnt mean it would be relevant to wat the qns is asking. hah. as a matter of fact, i think its totally out of point. i was laughing at my ans even while writing. the invigilator must haf tot i was mad.

anyway in celebration of my long awaited detachment from my 35 x 50cm table, i engaged myself in a dvd marathon on friday + sat + sun nite. such a shame my attempts at cajoling sis & winnie to play mahjong with me failed on fri and sat. the itch had to wait till sun noon at connie's place. am already looking forward to this weekend. mahjong again? =D

Oh God! Im 24!

19 Jan:
eve of my bday and i'd decided to skip class and stay at home for some 'alone' time, watching my dvd and trying to relax with my caviar mask on. but i was getting rather distracted by my phone.

"wats with winnie tonite lah, keep smsing me. getting a bit annoying." i tot aloud while replying her for the last time.

the smses finally stopped and i was concentrating on my show when the doorbell rang. thinking it was my bro who must be lazy to dig for his keys, i pottered to open the door and found a ringing phone at my door step. i listened abit more intently and realised it was a rather badly sung bday song. sensing trouble coming my way, i scooped up the phone and attempted to shut the door. but alas, they were too quick for me.

the silent nite soon erupted into the hissings of spray cans and bursts of screams and laughter past the stroke of midnite.

to my dear frens - coney, jeral, kc, viv and winnie :

• thank you all, for being there with me on my bday and starting off my 24th year with such a big bang.
• thank you all for the huge cake, still cun finish it leh, how?

it was deju vu, really, cos both coney and winnie did the exact same thing for one particular bday, appearing at my door step with spray cans (when i've jus stepped out of the shower!) and just, just in case you gals decide to recycle your ideas again, please DON'T! i don't think my aging heart can take it if you throw me into a pool again!

20 jan:
met up with dear ol' YC for lunch at mad jack's before i dragged my feet to class with a heavy heart. and it wasnt for long that i decided that heck, may as well leave early since my concentration wasnt on the lecture. so there, found my way to sis place for the bday dinner. and voila, my ayam masak merah!

mum found a fren who helped cooked the dish esp for me, so sweet of her! and she bought me the classic fan which i've wanted for ages!! now i can die a happy girl. =p

and check out the cake! my sis went and place some real mahjong tiles on it. and wanted me to eat those as well. -_-ll i think she could have some serious post natal depression.

so there, my bday ended (almost) perfectly. to YC for tt handmade figurine (made last min as usual), Wei2 for the chic bag, my boss for the bouquet of flowers, XF for the doggie toy, my family for the angpows and dinner, and to frens who remembered my bday, thank you all.

as unwilling as i am to accept the fact, its now official. tt particular old fart has turned 24 as of 20 jan 2007. geez, wat a scary figure. quick, someone pls tell me i still look 18!

Bus 171

if you were to ask me to describe myself, usually i would say im patient. and y so? cos for one, i dun flare up easily while waiting or in queue. and i also enjoy doing all things tt requires a certain amt of patience like piecing together jig-saw puzzles and sorts. so ya, i would think my treshold for waiting is pretty high.


but yesterday's incident stretched tt limit a tad too much it snapped. im not over exaggerating here but i waited for bus service 171 for one hour.


ONE. WHOLE. BLOODY HOUR.


im quite sure im not the only (unfortunate) one who's experienced tt, and perhaps my 1-hour wait is nothing compared to yours but allow me to rant abit here.


my lesson ended at 2200 and i took 184 (usually i take SBS buses) from SIM at 2215 and alighted in front of bukit panjang cc at 2230 to transfer to bus 171 which would take me to yishun.


so i waited,
and waited,
and waited,
and waited....


for ONE WHOLE BLOODY HOUR!!


and guess wat, the first bus reached at 2330 hours and 3 other buses reached at 2337 hours! all empty! (i noe cos i was waiting for my bro to pick me up cos cannot tahan already) im not understanding this at all!


i sure hope the relevant personnel can explain this (im expecting an email from them within 3 days) cos i really dun think the bad weather and traffic has got anything to do with it, the other services were operating normally, so wat the heck is wrong with this particular bus tt goes to yishun?? ya, you might say its my luck, but i think the bus system is totally fucked up. they really should rethink those courtesy campaigns they're (still?) doing and divert tt effort to get the damn buses on time. 15mins interval my foot!


im totally peeved, my day didnt have to end like this! tt 1 hour of distress they've inflicted was unnecessary, cos had they commit themselves in providing some decent and reliable service to us commuters, i would be lying under the blankets in my cosy bed instead of being out in the cold with my blood boiling!

My Firsts

oh my. couple more days and its goodbye 2006 and hello to a brand new year. time is a sneaky little thing isnt it? jus slip u by like tt without u even realising it. or has time somehow stopped for me since...... since whenever. but i have to say that this year has not been a fruitful year for me. seems tt ive got nothing much done, like getting my driving license, my braces, exercise and lose a few more kilos, switch jobs, being diligent in my studies, learn sewing, etc. so u could pretty much guess tt i wun be having any resolutions for 2007. but even though the year hasnt been fruitful, it has been most interesting. there were alot of firsts for me, like :

• turning 23 on 20 jan (i noe its lame but still its a first ok!)
• mugging for the exams (first time since a loongg while)
• saving a cat! i hope its still alive and well as i type
• huge obession over gay blogs, almost half my daily blog reads are pink!
• something broke.. still trying to have it replaced
• quitting my "kok kok" addiction. yes, i can now slp without my "kok kok"
• travelling with the girls to Desaru! it was such fun really
• seeing fireflies and going ga-ga over it
• morphing into a groupie and meeting Glenn Ong and Jean Danker!!
• visiting Hong Kong and cranking up after having eaten the wrong medicine
• encountering some strange guy who thinks he can chat up anyone who takes the same route to work. unfortunately for him, i haf a lousy temper, esp in the mornings
• encountering ppl who sits next to me in class and introducing themselves.... gawd, im really losing my icy image!
• diy-ed some random stuff
• bringing mum on an incentive trip to Malacca
• not studying for my asm test and handing up a blank answer script
• gushing over cheap clothes and shoes found in chong pang market
• developing insatiable cravings for food - toa payoh's hokkien mee, chong pang's soy bean milk, ayam masak merah, 杨枝甘捞, steamed crabs, 咸蛋虾 and the list goes on and on...
• revamping my bedroom
• realising how insignificant i am to my frens
• initiating to shake hands with a kid besides my niece (alright, pick up ur jaws guys) so so here's a pic of the, ahem, priviledged.

wai kei is my cousin's daughter whom i only see during chinese new year. the photo dun do her justice at all cos she has this pair of huge round eyes tt makes her incredibly adorable! and its sooo cute the way she squirmed when my bro and i simultaneously motioned her to come to us like some weirdos who's up to no good. but most importantly, she's well-behaved. and by my standards, tt would be unimaginably well-behaved for u. she doesnt scream and run around like other brats kids. also, unlike some snobs kids who ignore u when u ask for their names, she replies sweetly and in cantonese too! i think all parents should raise their kids up to be like her, tt would certainly make the world a better place (for me at least). no doubts abt it, wai kei is the kind of child i would like to have in the distant future. =)

X'Mas Gifts

this yr's xmas has been grey. in terms of the dampening weather as well as a particular incident which pretty much broke my heart. i noe tt a choice made is a choice made, but i dun like the distress it has caused. too unexpected and totally unneccessary.

anyway. back to the main topic - x'mas.

this yr i handmade some gifts for my frens and colleagues. its sooo cute i had to post pics of it up here. heehee. as like every year, wei wei and i will make gifts for our other colleagues. Year 2004 we did this incredibly cottony angel. hate, Hate, HATED it! nv did touch cotton wool again after tt. yah, its tt traumatic.

and last year we did xmas trees. it was pretty simple lah so nothing much to tok abt. and this year, we did pegs. cute isnt it?? and ya, there's cotton wool again. -_-lll we had to stick the figurines on top of the cotton wool and then on the pegs. so much more difficult than it sounds. and the second reindeer seems a little pissed that im taking its pic. hahaa.

and for my frens, i did this. credits to TL for the idea on the conversion of the photos.

oh ya, i bought myself a xmas present too! my darling swivel chair! *hugs*

So Sick

its year end and everyone's clearing their annual leave or taking medical leave. like me.

not the annual leave lah, i've already exhausted all my leave for my last exams. so im only entitled to falling sick, which sucks. my throat is sore and congested with phlegm, and my nose is blocked with mucus. damn, i sound like some wheezing toy everytime i blow my nose. the only good out of this is tt i sound pretty seductive with my low voice. muahahaa. anyway, let's hope i get well before xmas.

so xmas' round the corner but somehow the mood is like so gloomy? probably bcos the year's coming to an end and 2007's approaching (which bloody means im getting a year older soon! urrgghh!) or tt im sick and nothing much could excite me. but having said tt, it really isnt difficult to get me excited. all it takes is a fan or chair or better still, both!

i think the chair will look so cute with my cookie monster plush cushion on it! i noe, i could have just bought it myself, but as a wise-man once said, "if it aint broke, dun buy it." but wise-man,ure leaving me in a state of hankering which perturbs me!
